Description and function

The vessel is fitted with a caoutchouc bladder fixed on the top of the vessel. The sieve plate placed on the bottom of the vessel prevents any damaging of the bladder when emptying or when the damper is only filled with gas.

The damper is connected to the pressure piping by means of a connecting flange placed on the bottom of the damper. The dampers are available for vertical or horizontal operation.

Before being set into operation, the damper is pre-charged with nitrogen at a previously determined pressure. This compresses the bladder in the vessel.

The water pumped into the bladder compresses the gas in the vessel around the bladder. With increasing pressure, the water level climbs in the bladder and compresses the gas filling until the equilibrium between static and dynamic pressure in the system is reached.

A sudden stop of the pump(s) creates a pressure drop in the piping. The damper returns the stored water volume into the pressure piping. After having changed its direction of flow, the water returns to the damper and compresses the gas volume again.

  • Volume range:100 to 75'000 litres - other volumes available on request
  • Pressure range: for small volumes up to 60 bar, for bigger volumes up to 25 bar
