 Particle counter

What are particle counters used for?

  • Monitoring the purity degree of oil in hydraulic systems in order to increase their reliability.
  • Testing of virgin oils for impurities (cleanliness class of virgin oil according to NAS between 10 – 12 according to ISO 18/15/12 to 23/20/18
  • Where guaranty requirements have to be met and where the cleanliness of the oil has to be checked on the customer sit.
  • To obtain an economic, safe and reliable indication of the oil's cleanliness
  • To obtain a quantitative indication of the oil's cleanliness.

 Geräte-Beschreibung

Where are particle counters used?

  • In machine and hydraulic equipment manufactures
  • In after-sales and maintenance departments
  • In companies repairing and maintaining hydraulic equipment
  • By hydraulic machines and equipment operators, hydro-electric plants, etc.
  • Anywhere, where particle counting has to be carried out in a simple and economic way.
  • Priced at less than CHF 5000.- (multi-channel measuring systems approximately CHF 25‘000.-)

Schako II particle counter features

  • By using the light blockade principle, the counter determines the number of particles between 6 and 14 µm (2 channels) found in 100 ml oil within 1 minute
  • On-line measuring in high-pressure systems between 20 and 315 bar
  • On-line measuring in low-pressure systems between 10 and 20 bar
  • Measuring at pressures below 10 bar (tank) by using a booster pump
  • Output data according ISO (converted according to NAS)
  • Including filter (150 µm) protecting the measuring unit
  • Miniature hydraulic connectors.

Technical Data:

  • Output display in NAS classes (3 to 14) or according to ISO (8 to 22)
  • Measuring duration: 1 minute / Measuring quantity: 100 ml
  • Measuring medias: mineral or lubrication oil type fluids
  • Viscosity range: 10 to 200 cSt
  • Fluids temperature range: 5 to 70° C
  • Ambient temperature range: 5 to 40°C
  • Battery charger: 230 V – 50 Hz
  • Accumulator autonomy:10 h
  • Weight: 5 kg
  • Dimensions: 245 x 310 x 100 mm
  • Package: including suitcase
  • Optional equipment: dot matrix printer, pressure booster pump.

What can the Schako II particle provide for and what can we do with it?

  • The composition of solid matters regarding particle size distribution is quite constant
  • The presence of 6 and 14 µm particles give good indication about the cleanliness of the analysed oil
  • The Schako particle counter cannot be used for determining filtering efficiencies which needs at least a 3-channel measurement.
